Eddie Guardado Released by Washington. Is a Minnesota Homecoming Next?
Eddie Guardado, known largely for piling up strikeouts, was given his walking papers today.
The Washington Nationals released the veteran Southpaw after two less-than-stellar exhibition performances. Guardado posted an ERA of 18.00 in just two innings of work this spring.
Guardado, 39, is best-known for his tenure as closer for the Minnesota Twins.
He was christened “Everyday Eddie” [...]
Los Angeles Dodgers visit Taiwan. But only part of the team.
Well Manny and crew are in Taiwan right now. I’m not sure if he and Manager Joe Torre are happy (or a little concerned that the recent earth quake is done… but like lighting they are probably safe it won’t strike twice quickly there.. Los Angeles however is another issue). But there’s a few native [...]
The San Francisco Giants
Its kind of amazing how, after several seasons of the Barry Bonds 3-ring circus, the San Francisco Giants managed to park themselves firmly underneath the national baseball radar. With most casual baseball fans unable to name 2 people in their starting lineup, the Giants put together a pretty stellar 2009. Matt Kamenski, who will soon be returning to the Bay Area after a 7 year sabbatical in our nation's capital, was kind enough to put pen to paper to introduce us to the 2010 Giants. A good ...

How Joba can learn about reduced velocity from Lincecum
At this point last year, we began wondering about Joba Chamberlain’s velocity. After throwing in the upper 90s out of the bullpen, and then mid-90s in the rotation, Joba had been throwing in the low-90s for most of spring training. This caused particular concern because Chamberlain had missed more than a month in 2008 with [...] Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog
RAB Fantasy Baseball League Part Five
Alright folks, the league settings are the same as the other four leagues (see them here), though remember that the maximum number of moves per week has been capped at eight. We don’t want people swapping out starters every day to build up those win and strikeout totals. If you missed out on the other [...] Post from: River Ave. Blues A New York Yankees blog

The Games: The Tampa Bay Rays extended their winning streak to nine games following a sweep of split squad games on Thursday. Note: Rest Started Last Week for Jose Reyes
The Mets are now telling people that Jose Reyes’s rest actually started last week, meaning it is not two– to eight-weeks of rest starting today, but starting last week.
… but, it’s still an estimate… so, what’s the difference if its one to five weeks, two to eight, or three to nine… the point is, he’s [...]

Waiver Wire Offseason: NL
This week's WW Offseason examines the chance for a breakout from Jeff Clement, a rebound from Philadelphia's Cole Hamels, or continuing production from Houston's Bud Norris and Arizona's Mark Reynolds, as well as whether Nick Hundley is a good investment. Some notes from my home draft
A couple of days ago I completed the snake draft for my shallow, small stakes home league. Its more of a friendly league than a super-competitive one but nevertheless I have a few friends who are not only good at fantasy sports but also highly motivated to take down their expert friend so its not easy by any measure.
Instead of boring you with analyzing my roster I thought I'd share a few quick thoughts that I had during or after the draft;
